Columbus Bat Removal

Not all wildlife removal companies are the same. Some have experience with bat removal projects, and are familiar with the proper methods for bat exclusion. But others use incorrect techniques, such as bat traps, summer exclusions, or worse, fumigants. Do your research before you hire someone! I personally recommend our field technician for bat control in Columbus.

I have communicated with our bat expert in Columbus for many years, and he abides by these bat removal principles:

  • Always perform a proper live exclusion.
  • Never use poisons or fumigants or kill bats.
  • Never use traps or attempt to relocate bats.
  • Never do a removal during the maternity season.
  • Seal all entry points shut with guarantee.
  • Offer attic cleanup and decontamination.
  • Properly Ohio licensed and insured.
As I discuss repeatedly on this website, bat removal projects are not easy, and not for amateurs. I have seen many horrible attempts at bat colony removal throughout the years, done both by do-it-yourself homeowners and by incompetent companies. Never hire a Columbus pest control company that uses poisons for rodent or insect control. They often attempt the same approach for bats. Not only is this incredibly destructive and illegal in Ohio, but it results in disaster for the homeowner, and does not actually solve the problem. It's very important that the removal of bats from the attic of your home is done in the correct manner, and there is only one correct way, with a live bat exclusion. To read more about this process, read my bats in the attic home page.

Before you hire anyone, including our tech at 614-502-7677, talk to them, and make sure that they understand what they are doing, and that they have experience. Be sure that they do abide by the principles I outlined above. This is not just for the sake of the bats - I'm no tree hugger - it's for the sake of doing the job correctly, for you and your property. The fact that it's good for the bats as well is a lucky coincidence. And really, bats are good animals, which I'm sure you realize. I hope you have a good experience with your Columbus bat control project. You can email me personally if you have any problems with our tech, and I will talk to him, but I doubt that will be necessary. Good luck!

I need HELP. I paid a company to get rid of the bats in my home in Columbus OH, not you guys. This was over a year ago and I still have bats flying around in my living spaces and attic. The company charged me $95 for their FREE bat inspection and estimate. They gave me an estimate to remove the bats, seal them out and spray for any residual bugs such as bat bugs. I was told I would have a two year warranty against the bats returning. We scheduled for the work to be performed and the day they arrived I paid their invoice of a little over $2,400. while they were working one brought me my receipt and I asked about the two year warranty because on the receipt it said 2 year warranty for bat bugs. At this point they were already almost done foaming around the exterior of the house to close up all the potential holes. He told me that "if the bats were back the bugs were back and to call them and they would take care of it". I asked about how long they had to wait that night for the bats to fly out the last area to be sealed before they finished sealing and sprayed for the bugs. I was told not to worry that the poison would kill any remaining bats and not to worry they were small and I wouldn't smell them. Is it illegal to kill big brown bats in Columbus OH? I've currently filed a law suit against this company because every time I've called them back they have either come and stuffed something in the hole inside the house the bat comes down into the living area through or advised me to get tennis rackets to knock them out of the air with so I can kill them. The last time he said I had no more bats in the house but rather rodents in the house and told me to call his office to schedule baiting and trapping (for a fee of course). Three days later a bat came down the staircase and flew straight at my Husbands face. I'm at my wits end. I paid another company to come and inspect (over $500) and they identified many areas the bats could be coming through and quoted me almost $7,000 to do the bat proofing and exclusion. I've started doing the bat proofing myself on the areas still leaving the main area open and plan on a bat door in a few days time. But any information I can use to help me prevail against these sheisters and get the bats out the correct way will be greatly appreciated.
