My friend and I have just discovered bats coming from a vent outside the building we use as a church. We counted 75 of them and then quit counting. My concern is this...the owner has/or is going to engage an "exterminator" to handle the problem. I'm not immediately involved in this, other than reporting it to the pastor so don't know if he meant what he said or if he's contacted a specialist to remove the bats. The question I have is this...is bat removal overseen by a gov't agency and what can I do if the bats are simply killed and removed? I'm an animal lover...all kinds of animals, even bats! I even relocate snakes that come on my property. And to think these bats will simply be killed rather than relocated makes my blood boil!! This situation has just come to light in the past 2 days, so hopefully your answer can reach me before anything is done to the bats. Thank you for all you do to protect people from wildlife, but especially to protect wildlife from people! The pastor asked the owner of the building for the name of the exterminator so we could get a time line for when we can go back in the building. He was told to pack up and get out. I don't know if the owner is even planning on doing anything about the bats! There is another business in that building!! What steps should we take to assure people are not being exposed to the guano from these bats?
